There are two problems with the hyper-realistic, digitally created video creation: 1.) the specific moment in time never happened; that NBA superstar was actually at home not playing basketball on the day that the video was recorded - 2.) the venue in which the superstar performed the basketball actions in the video is also a digital 2D rendering; 3.) the video was created using sophisticated AI video synthesis tools like ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 or similar AI multimodal content generation algorithms, which were trained to synthesize 2D and 3D video content using years' worth of crowdsourced biometric data, actual game play video, motion capture video and game performance data from both licensed and unlicensed sources. The engagement metrics are at an all-time high, advertising revenues are flowing in, and sponsorship deals are being made. All this money through viral coverage and content does not return to the league or teams or the players’ who produce the videos.
