Fluid (FLUID) is an innovative DeFi protocol developed by Instadapp. It unifies lending, borrowing, and trading within a single platform, aiming to resolve common DeFi issues such as high fees and operational complexity. Its core objective is to maximize capital efficiency by establishing a unified liquidity layer for streamlined crypto management. The project rebranded from INST to FLUID in December 2024 with a 1:1 token swap.

The FLUID token serves multiple functions within the Fluid ecosystem. It enables holders to participate in governance through the Fluid DAO, voting on platform upgrades and feature implementations. Users can access premium tools, such as vault creation, by utilizing FLUID. It also acts as a reward mechanism, where users can earn tokens by contributing liquidity or lending assets. Furthermore, platform fees contribute to token buybacks, benefiting FLUID holders, and the token is used for transaction fees across the ecosystem.

Fluid operates using a unified liquidity layer that integrates various DeFi protocols to optimize capital usage. It enables users to deposit assets for interest, borrow against collateral, and trade efficiently with lower fees. Key features include its foundational liquidity layer that aggregates and manages liquidity, 'Smart Collateral' allowing deposited assets to earn trading fees by providing DEX liquidity, and 'Smart Debt' where borrowers receive auto-deposited LP tokens for fee income. This system creates a 'flywheel' effect by rehypothecating borrowed assets as DEX liquidity.

Fluid distinguishes itself by offering a more comprehensive and integrated DeFi experience compared to platforms primarily focused on single functions, such as lending. While some platforms specialize, Fluid combines lending, borrowing, and trading capabilities into a single, user-friendly system.
